PROGRAMS
Since 1994, The SMARTPLAY has provided programs to students in communities across Central Alabama. Our programs improve their reading and math skills while building character through sports.
Summer after summer, we see a growth in the number of kids we serve and their academic gain through the Baseball & Academic Skills Instructional Course (BASIC) program. Combining academics with sports gives the kids a chance to exercise their bodies and build sportsmanlike characteristics while addressing the reading and math skills lost during the summer months.

BASIC brings sports and games to the classroom through reading, math, and STEM lessons that differ from the traditional school day.
